Abstract: The credibility of academic publishers and their journals must be assessed through official, transparent evaluation mechanisms rather than unverified online sources. This article examines the formal indexing and evaluation processes employed by recognized academic databases including SCOPUS, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and Web of Science (formerly ISI), contrasting these with unsubstantiated claims circulated through social media and anonymous blogs. We analyze the criteria, methodologies, and governance structures of legitimate indexing services, emphasizing the importance of relying on authoritative sources when evaluating publication venues. The case of WSEAS serves as an illustrative example of how publishers should be assessed through official channels rather than informal online commentary.
